South Park: Joining the Panderverse

Post by sharoma »

I rate this 10/10. I am very strict with my rating but this was the best TV I've seen all year. Trey Parker is a genius and South Park continues to be criminally underrated. It was the most original satirical episode of comedy in at least a decade.

Watch it!

I'll look for this. I probably need some guidance with the issues it addresses, because although I'm more supportive of "woke" than the gammons I can't fully believe that young people should be railroaded into surgery if there's any alternative whatsoever.

Well it doesn't focus on that aspect at all, so don't worry! I remember your fondness for the episode "The Death Camp of Tolerance".

Oddly enough the commander of that camp had the same ideas as Karl Popper, that in a democracy excessive tolerance of non-democratic beliefs and principles dooms that democracy in the long run. Fascism, Islamism, even Communism (though of course the deep state is dead against the latter), provide examples of this, and many democracies have fallen by extending an olive branch to such extremists.

Then again, democracy isn't the be-all and end-all either... Personally I think without good education and information sources, we're all fucked. And there is zero regulation of the press cartel running this country, while checks and balances against the "will of the people" interpreted by newspaper barons have been steadily eroded and foreign capital sloshes around our referenda. The UK is a right-wing populist state now, which practices the narcissism of small differences against similar authoritarian democracies like Russia and Turkey while being effectively a one-party "elective dictatorship".
