Sharoma Public Service Vehicle Badge

Public Service Vehicle Badge

This is simply a page to display my late Grandad's Public Service Vehicle Badge. These are known as PSV badges. They are made from enamel and were issued and worn by people certified to either drive or collect fares on public service vehicles. My Grandad was a repairman at the Wigan Corporation bus depot from the 1950s until the 1980s. Since he sometimes drove the buses, he was issued a red badge. Conductors were issued green badges. CC is the code for the North Western transport region. His number was 56583. This is a prized possession of mine. Apparently the badges were supposed to be returned when they were phased out. The fact that he kept it is very much in character for my Grandad!
